Biography

Bertolt Daems, nominated by JCI the Netherlands, was elected 2012 JCI (Junior Chamber International) President at the 2011 JCI World Congress held in Brussels, Belgium.

Born in January 1973 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, Daems holds a master’s degree in building construction and is CEO of a management consultancy company called RnR Group. The company oversees large construction projects with a focus on social enterprise initiatives including education, healthcare, water and ecology, urbanization, mobility, infrastructure, governance, safety and peace. RnR Group also works closely with the government and citizens to ensure a successful triple bottom line; people, profit and planet. Daems resides in Wageningen, the Netherlands, with his wife Véronique, their twin sons Rutger and Rogier and daughter Fabienne.

Daems joined JCI in November 2003, and was one of the founders of his JCI Local Organization, JCI Mariken, which was formally recognized in January 2004 when Daems became Local Vice President. He served as Local President in 2005 and Secretary General of JCI the Netherlands in 2006. In 2007, he became Executive Vice President of Growth and Development of JCI the Netherlands and also served on the Board of the 2007 JCI European Conference in Maastricht, the Netherlands. In 2008, he was elected Deputy President and assumed the National Presidency of JCI the Netherlands after the departure of the elected National President.

At the international level, Daems has served as 2009 JCI Vice President assigned to Europe and 2010 JCI Executive Vice President for Europe. In 2011, Daems was Chief Executive Assistant to 2011 JCI President Kentaro Harada. He has attended 11 JCI Area Conferences and four JCI World Congresses. He has been honored as JCI Senator No. 68118 and speaks English, German and Dutch.

As JCI President, Daems believes that, in a world facing so many challenges, a critical mass of young active citizens is needed now more than ever to provide solutions to global problems. In a highly interdependent world, it is the responsibility of JCI to engage young people to take the future of their communities, their countries and the world at large into their own hands. JCI empowers young people with the tools, resources and opportunities to create change through targeted action. President Daems will help members translate their passion for positive change into concrete actions that ultimately make the world a better place for all its citizens.

Proper procedures of the meeting were observed as we don’t want to waste a single second dedicated by our members.  The agenda has five (5) key items that were discussed. The first agenda was  the Induction for 2012 which was handled by JCI Member Ramil Montealto, second was the Taiwan Trip and other future trips which was discussed by JCI Member Michael Brian Yu, Blood Drive partnership with MCCI which was discussed by JCI Member Cyruz Honoridez, YLEA (Youth Leadership Excellence Award) presented by JCI Member Michaelson Oyap, Korean Visitors and JCI Mandaue Website to be discussed by JCI Member Paul Villacorta, Buntis Day by JCI Member Janelle Ormoc and lastly JCI Mandaue video shoot by JCI Member Darrell Cerna.

Just a short update what happened, for our Induction this March 09, 2012 we are still looking for partners and sponsors if you are a sponsor and you would like to sponsor on our projects, please do send us an email at officers@jcimandaue.org with your intent to become one of our partners or sponsors.  For the Taiwan trip the flight schedules were being finalized and JCI Mandaue will be going back to Taiwan to visit our sister chapter JCI Sanchong and this time some JCI WoMandaue members will be coming along with us. Our roles and responsibilities for this incoming Blood Drive this February 25, 2012 will be food distribution, registration and provide assistance to the donor. Now for the YLEA, were looking Benedicto College  as the prospect venue for Mandaue, were looking for sponsors who would like to sponsor for the food and were partnering up with DepEd to tap for schools in Mandaue City.  Now for the Korean Visitors and JCI Website update, Paul will be sending his update via email. Buntis Day will not push though. For the video shoot this is going to be excited as this is going to be exciting the same with our previous video during the 48th Induction and Turnover Ceremony of JCI Mandaue, scripts were updated new shooting date will be posted.

The meeting was so organized that it ended earlier than the time expected which gives our members a chance to network themselves or the business they were doing.  The GMM was also attended by past presidents JCI Members Marc Phua and Jon Castanares.

We encourage everyone to join us on our Blood Drive partnership event with MCCI this February 25, 2012 at Pacific Mall Mandaue ( formerly Super Metro Mandaue ) at around 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The project chair for this event is our new JCI Member Anton Almeda.

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.

When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

The project is also inline with the JCI goals and objectives, which is to attract new members, keep current members by making them involve, providing a positive profile to the community, attracting sponsors and partners and to get support. JCI Womandaue is now ready to take the challenge and live the JCI Creed.  Now we invite you to witness the induction of JCI Womandaue this March 9, 2012 , 6PM at Oakridge Pavilion.

During the event we were able to stage our live streaming as part of our innovative program for our chapter and we believe that we are the first one to broadcast a live streaming of the event. You can watch a portion of the clip on our live page. As much as these photos below will speak for the success itself, we would like to thank JCI Member Darrell Cerna for sharing a momentous captured moment from the event.

The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry supported the Blood Letting project of ABS-CBN for the Philippine Red Cross Blood Bank at the Pacific Mall Mandaue.  Now it is an opportunity for us, JCI Mandaue to be invited as an Event Partner. The event was widely supported by many Mandauehanons.

This year, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry was invited again by Philippine Red Cross for another Blood Letting activity in order to sustain the blood supply of the Blood Bank for the patients in Cebu.

With this, the JCI Mandaue will support this worthy endeavor. The Blood Letting event will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm on February 25, 2012 at Pacific Mall -Mandaue.

Last year, in partnership with ABS-CBN and in coordination with Philippine Red Cross,  we launched the Kapamilya Bloodletting (Bleed for Life) during the MBM 2011 celebration , the event was successful with a total collection of 110 units or 49,500 cc of blood.

Presently, the Blood Center is in need of blood in order to sustain the quality of blood supply to provide the blood needs of the patients and to save lives.

In line with the Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center of the Philippine Red Cross efforts to serve more patients in the hospitals, we continue to conduct blood letting activities that aims in helping solve the depleting blood supply in the hospitals, it is likewise campaigned for personal health benefits of donors-those who regularly donate blood, according to recent studies have a lower risk for heart disease.

In this regard, we would like to invite your company /organization to be part of this project by becoming an Event Partner. As such we would like to request  to assist the medical staff in the registration of donors, to encourage our members to help by donating blood  and also help in the distribution of food to the medical staff. In exchange, we may display your collaterals at the venue for our organization event documentation.
