JCI Mandaue is at the forefront of the Mandaue community which it serves. Each year sees JCI Mandaue striving to implement projects that benefit the Mandauehanons in every way, be it medical, financial, or developmental in nature. This year, JCI Mandaue strove to top its award-winning projects from 2009, beginning with the flagship Stream Smiles project, Alay Lakad, and Voter’s Education Forum.
In its never-ending quest to provide opportunities to the youth to discover and develop their full potential to be better active citizens, JCI Mandaue is embarking on its 3rd Mandaue City Alay Lakad, a walkathon that aims to raise funds to send deserving kids to high school and college. The Alay Lakad also encompasses various seminars and training programs designed to help the beneficiaries improve themselves on all levels.
JCI Mandaue took one of JCI Philippines’ flagship projects, Beyond Prison Walls, to the confines of the Mandaue City Jail, where the JCI brothers brought fresh supplies of food, mattresses, medicines, and hope to the residents of the jail. This continues a trend that was re-ignited in 2009 to implement Beyond Prison Walls every year, after a short hiatus.
JCI Mandaue Members have often been concerned about the disparity between the demand and volume education versus the quality of life afforded by the resulting employment, professional practice and financial opportunities that await the graduates.
Mundong Makulay, sa Sustansiya-A Makikita
JCI Mandaue, in coordination with the national JCI organization and various heavyweight corporate sponsors including Philip Morris, implemented “Mundong Makulay sa Sustansiya-A Makikita”, a vitamin A supplementation project that aims to curb the incidence of eyesight-related ailments in young, growing school children.
Personal Awareness and Leadership Seminar with DepEd
Personal Awareness & Leadership seminar (PALs) is 3-day Human Potential Development seminar that will allow the individual to discover their full potential and live their life with passion and zest.
Upholding the JCI Creed in that Service to Humanity is the best work of life, with respect to the overall improvement of public health in the communities of Mandaue City and the surrounding cities and provinces without preference.
Voting is every citizen’s inalienable right to select the new members of government administration. 2010 saw the Philippines’ first presidential election in a long while, and JCI Mandaue took upon itself the responsibility of educating a new generation of youth in the new automated voting procedures implemented by the COMELEC.
Stream Smile
JCI Mandaue’s signature project, one which has consistently garnered Best Community Development awards since the project’s inception in 2005, is the JCI Mandaue Stream Smiles. Formerly known as E-smiles, Stream Smiles is a collaboration between JCI Mandaue and the principal corporate sponsor Stream Global Inc. (formerly known as E-telecare). The project aims to provide free cleft lip and palate operations to patients from all over Cebu City and its provinces. Some patients even come from as far as Bohol and Mindanao.
