Personal Awareness and Leadership Seminar with DepEd
Personal Awareness & Leadership seminar (PALs) is 3-day Human Potential Development seminar that will allow the individual to discover their full potential and live their life with passion and zest.
It is a highly experiential with a combination of highly charged lectures, exciting exercises, discussions and participant sharing that makes the experience very memorable and life enhancing. Participants have discovered how to be totally responsible for their lives whether to make more money or have better relationships.
Topics in this seminar includes: the Law of Attraction, the Behavioral Matrix, the Subconscious Mind, taking back control of your life, Pygmalion theory, improving professional and personal relationships, and many more…
The project was conceptualized due to the efforts of PALs Graduates who are at the same time members of the JCI Mandaue. These graduates have been sharing their experiences and learnings at every opportune moment they can with the other members. They have been showing what life-changing principles taught to them with such enthusiasm and conviction that it was only a matter of time before everyone caught on to the idea.
Impressed with the results that these graduates have made, the JCI Mandaue BOD wanted to share this seminar and it’s teachings to the future leaders and role models of society. And what better way to influence such young minds other than the teachers that shapes these minds and whom themselves are looked upon as role models.
Around March, JCI Mem. Michael Villanueva thought of the idea that what if the JCI Mandaue could conduct a seminar and let the public school teachers take it so that the entire public school system can benefit from the program.
JCI Mem. Michael Villanueva then approached the Marketing head of PALs in Cebu; Mrs. Marget Fernan Villarica of Destination Specialists Inc; with the proposal of a partnership for the benefit of the public education system in Mandaue City. Mrs. Villarica then in turn communicated with the facilitator of the program; Mr. Severino “Joey” Reyes of PowerSpeak Inc; of the agreement and gave a special price for the JCI Mandaue and its beneficiaries.
Instead of the original price of P 10,800.00 per participant, Mr. Reyes; in support of the project’s objective and its apparent benefit to the community; gave JCI Mandaue a special price of only P 4,400.00 for each participant. A very cheap price for a 3 day life-changing seminar held at a prime location, the Cebu Parklane International Hotel.
Psyched with the turn of events, solicitation letters were given out to several PALs graduates and to the business community. JCI Mandaue also created an audio visual presentation about this upcoming project.
JCI Mem. Lloyd Bazaar was in-charge for creating the AVP. JCI Mandaue borrowed audio-video recording equipments from a local advertising company and proceed with an interview from the DepEd representative, Mr. Severino “Joey” Reyes of PowerSpeak Inc., Mrs. Marget Fernan Villarica of Destination Specialists Inc., Fr. Tito of Basilica del Sto. Niño, Mrs. Cenelyn Manguilimotan of Cebu Parklane International Hotel, and other PALs graduates.
A total of P 50,000.00 was collected from the solicitations. Other corporate sponsors also gave sponsorships in the form of ex-deals such as: Cebu Parklane International Hotel for the location, lunch meal, and the use of its facilities and Virginia Food Inc for the morning and afternoon snacks.
Just a few days before the seminar started. The JCI Mandaue along with Mr. Kabingue, Mrs. Villlarica, and Mr. Reyes meet at the Bean Date Café of Cebu Parklane International Hotel to coordinate and assign tasks for each of the JCI members. Mr. Kenneth Kabingue was designated as the Chief of Staff for this batch. Other JCI members were also given tasks to be performed during the seminar. Such assignments were: JCI Mem. Michael Villanueva as Asst. Chief of Staff – Inside Services, JCI Mem. Michael Brian Yu as Asst. Chief of Staff – Outside Services, JCI Mem. Katrina Arianna Puray as Microgroup Team Captain, Mr. Paul Winston Villacorta as Audio Services, JCI Mem. Jennifer Tan as Registration and Greeter.
The total amount billed to the JCI Mandaue was P 44,000.00 for the 10 participants from the DepEd. Subtracting the fees, the chapter was able to garner a net income of P 6,000.00. This income will go to finance the next batch of students for this project.
During the first day of the seminar, JCI Members: Jennifer Tan, Kenneth Kabingue, Godofredo Castanares, Ramil Montealto, Marc Achilles Phua, and Katrina Arianna Puray; along with Mr. Reyes and Mrs. Villarica; met and greeted the 10 selected participants from the DepEd. The seminar started with a short introduction of what PALs is all about and then a brief introduction from each students and setting of expectations from students, facilitators, and staffs.
On the second day, all of the students we’re broken up into smaller groups, called the “microgroup”. Leading the microgroup was JCI Mem. Katrina Arianna Puray with the assistance of JCI members: Michael Brian Yu, Paul Winston Villacorta, Michael Jay Villanueva, and Jessica Cabilao. Each JCI Member was assigned a microgroup to facilitate the goal-setting activity, wherein each students were taught on how to make SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Risky, and Time-bounded) goals and different and effective ways on how to conquer their own “inner demons”. At the end of the second day, the facilitator parted the students with a story “Givers Gain – Takers Lose” for them to reflect upon when they get home that night.
On the final day, each student was given the chance to share their own stories about “Givers Gain – Takers Lose”. It was a very touching and momentous event for each student as they shared and listened to each other’s tear-jerking stories. At the end of the seminar, the students were surprised to see their families and loved ones at the graduation ceremony. Several of the PALs graduates also came to the graduation ceremony where they welcomed and congratulated the new graduates.
