JCI Mandaue, through its Sagop Bakhaw initiative, continues its mission to restore and protect Mandaueโs coastal ecosystems. For our second stop at Barangay Umapad (South Mangrove Patch), we planted ๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ถ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ in alignment with JCI Philippines’ Think Green National Program, themed “๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ -๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฆ ๐๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ญ๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ.”
This mangrove forest is Mandaue City’s last remaining forest, serving as a vital ecological shield that protects coastal communities, supports marine biodiversity, and strengthens climate resilience. In collaboration with the ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ด๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐น๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ and the ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ณ๐ผ๐น๐ธ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, we also took the opportunity to discuss the livelihood challenges of local fisherfolk and map out future Sagop Bakhaw stops across Mandaueโs remaining coastal barangays.
We were joined by soon to be affiliated ๐๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ด๐ฏ๐ผ ๐๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐, young leaders eager to take part in this growing movement for environmental sustainability.
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, donors, and partnersโyour support helps us protect and restore Mandaueโs last natural forest, ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.
