The second stop of HeKaSi Basa brought a morning of learning, storytelling, and creative expression to 𝟓𝟎+ 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐔𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐝, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲. This session featured the enchanting story “𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦,” produced by JCI Mandaue External Affairs and brought to life by storyteller Dir. Kerwin Macopia.
The story held a deep significance for the 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, which was once a dumpsite but has now been transformed into a thriving eco space. Through this tale, the children learned about the importance of environmental stewardship, community responsibility, and the role they play in preserving the cleanliness and history of their surroundings.
Beyond storytelling, the children unleashed their creativity in a coloring session, received essential school materials, and shared a meaningful meal together. This initiative continues to highlight 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲, 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰.
We were also proud to activate the soon-to-be-affiliated 𝐉𝐉𝐂 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, strengthening our commitment to fostering young changemakers. A heartfelt thank you to our 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 who make HeKaSi Basa possible.
At HeKaSi Basa, we believe that when stories resonate deeply with children, learning becomes more than just an activity—it becomes an experience that shapes their perspective and inspires action. Every story told, every lesson shared, and every moment of creativity nurtures not just their literacy but also their sense of responsibility, curiosity, and hope.
